DIBELS is a widely acclaimed, research- and prevention-based tool for assessing how well students are developing early literacy skills. It is an outstanding tool for assessing the "vital signs" of students' reading health, and provides guidance for administering appropriate instruction and intervention before reading failure sets in.

The kindergarten classroom set consists of pre-printed materials you can use to immediately administer DIBELS right out of the box. DIBELS, which stands for Dynamic Basic Early Literacy Skills, was developed by researchers at the University of Oregon. It meets Reading First standards.

With this all-in-one classroom set, you'll be able to quickly administer, record, and identify students in need of intervention. DIBELS measures critical early reading skills, predicts how well a child will be doing in reading comprehension by the end of third grade, and identifies those at risk for reading failure.

Each DIBELS measure takes only two to three minutes to administer. The first grade assessment focuses on:

letter naming fluency

phoneme segmentation fluency

nonsense word fluency

oral reading fluency
